Union: Coffee prices in Russia rise on global production issues
MOSCOW, Nov 14 (PRIME) -- Global production problems have already pushed up the coffee prices in Russia, and further dynamics will be determined by the situation on the global markets, exchange prices and currency rates, Dmitry Leonov, deputy chairman of the management board at the Association of Producers and Suppliers of Food Products, told PRIME on Monday.
The global coffee prices increased in 2022 because of “poor harvests, higher prices of packaging and fertilizers, logistics difficulties,” Leonov said. The world prices of Arabica coffee increased by 18.8% on the year in September, Robusta coffee grew by 6.6%, he added.
“Further dynamics will traditionally depend on the supply and demand balance on the world markets, exchange prices and exchange rates,” he also said.
The average retail prices for natural instant coffee in October rose to 3,200 rubles per kilogram against 2,600 rubles a year ago, and for coffee in beans and ground coffee rose to 1,400 rubles per kilogram against 1,100 rubles.
